Australia Consumer Law
There are nine consumer
guarantees for goods. Goods must:
- Be of acceptable quality
- Be fit for the purpose made known to the seller before purchase
- Match their description prior to purchase
- Match a sample or demonstration model if that is what the purchase is based on
- Meet any express warranties about things like performance and durability
- Have spare parts and repair facilities provided by the manufacturer or importer for a reasonable time after purchase
- Be sold with all ownership rights passed to the buyer
- Be sold without any attempt to repossess or reclaim the product, except when purchased under a payment plan
- Be sold free of any undisclosed securities or charges over the product, unless otherwise disclosed prior to purchase
- Be undertaken with due care and skill, and reasonable steps should be taken to avoid loss or damage
- Be fit for the purpose specified by the consumer prior to purchase
- Be supplied within a reasonable time
